CDV at last

Hi Zikim if you like me have been driving for many years and have driven quite a few different cars one of the first things you adapt to is where the clutch biting point is and they do all vary a little but you get used to it very quickly. The cdv causes no problems when selecting gears up or down 1.it just takes away your smooth and swift if you like, control of the biting point of the clutch plates. 2. With the plates coming together slower because of the cdv than normal they will drag longer before full bite causing more heat and unnecessary wear of the plates. I found that I would ease off the gas feeling the clutch slipping more than I would like and this would develop the kangarooing effect. I am not an individual on this topic many of our colleagues have found and rectified the problem by removing the cdv.
Hope this clarifies things a little. Cheers mate Baz

Hi RickRob Im retired so every day is a Sunday and I got plenty of time to play...Cheers bud Baz

Hi Baz, what spanners were needed specifically for this job? I'm all for having all the tools available but this time of year would rather buy the minimum.

Cheers, Grant

Hi Grant first you and I know ring spanners and sockets are kind to nuts and bolt heads, so me anticipating tight fittings thought I would get flared spanners which have an opening wide enough to pass over tubing and slide sideways onto the nut these are next best to a full ring spanner as open ended spanners could flex and round of the nut if really tight. sizes were 2 x 17mm and one 11mm £5 quid each and not to buy again also grips for nipping up rubber hose, remember 5 ps (pre planning prevents piss pot performance) just three spanners and hose pliers in all. Man is it worth doing.
Cheers mate Barry

Cheers mate, grown up around the motor trade myself so know the value of having all the tools available, doesn't stop me making the occasional cock up still :D

Clear window in weather this morning so went for my test run ie. town and country and the transformation post cdv removal was unbelievable, smooth gear changes at all ranges of acceleration were silky smooth and controlled just how the zed deserves to be and how it should have come from the factory. Driving experience pleasure is up by 100%. This is a mod you will not regret. cheers all. Baz :D
