Just wondering if anyone else had problems with the CD player, scratching their CD's?


Also on an 05, do any of you have a red blinking security light on the radio or anywhere else in the Z when it's locked?
 
Whether you have a security system or not, you can have the service guys to activate the system in the computer. The clown nose will then blink when the car is locked as well as blink the lights when you lock or unlock it by remote.
 
The service dept said the clown nose has to be red in order to set to blink. I am totally confused..
 
Nope, I've met other 05 owners and theirs is white, same as mine, no alarm, but blinks. Some 05's also have a radio that blinks red when car is locked. I can't find out the right answer.
 
Z4Z4, dude.....let's get going on this quest of yours. First of all, I'm happy to see you migrated from Roadfly. However, we need to get a few things established:

I have had a Z4 since Sept 03. I am not aware of problem CD scratches caused by the CD player. From your other post on Roadfly didn't you have your CD player replaced? Are you saying the new one scratches your CD's? Or are we actually past that and you are actually trying to figure out something regarding a flashing light?

What are you wanting to know....specifically and with photographs if you have them? Your questions and the answers you have been given elsewhere don't seem to be getting anywhere. So in the gallant effort of finding out what it is you are after please post here and now. We will help you here if we can figure out what it is you want.

20 ducks.......DUDE????? as stated on roadfly, BMW service dept did change my radio/CD because it was clicking & scratching my CD's, so they are ruined. My point of this whole thread was & is my ORIGINAL radio had a red blinking light, my NEW one does NOT :x , so even though I don't have an alarm system installed, I HAD a red blinking light, & I wanted to find out if other 05 owners also had the same. Other 05 owners said they have a blinking "clown nose" I said mine is frosted and does not blink, they said their clown nose is frosted and they don't have an alarm, but when locked it DOES blinks. So no big deal.
 
Where on the radio was the blinking light.
Here is a photo of my radio. Is it like your radio? If so, where exactly was this flashing light you stated you saw on the radio?

Clown noses are frosted. They have a LED inside that will flash when programmed. You do not require an alarm for the clown nose to flash. Your dealer will need to program it to flash. Get an alarm, they aren't expensive. You can then have an alarm, flashing clown nose. Geez, it might make coffee for you. Okay, no coffee. :)
 
Coffee sounds good to me :P

Service dept said that it had to be a red clown nose, I think if (more like when) I have more problems next trip will be to a different dealer, even if it's further away.

My light blinked on the top right side of the radio, next to the CD insert area.
