CD PLAYER STUCK AND NOT PLAYING

Yesterday the CD palyer was working, it came to the end of a CD and i pressed the button for it to pick another CD and nothing. I was using the sat nav at the time and lost the map picture and all i had was CD1 checking. Anyway after turning it off and on again i got my sat nav back, but no CDs are playing. Everytime i hit the CD fucntion it sticks on CD 1 checking and will not do anything else regardless of what buttons i press.

Just tried to eject the CD changer and it is jammed. i think there was a thread about how to get it out, if someone could point me in the right direction of that or help?

I havent checked, but presume it is not covered by BMW extended warranty?

I had the same problem just as my warranty expired! Interestingly the CD magazine would not eject when the engine was running, but would once I had removed the ignition key (probably coincidence). I removed the CDs from the magazine, before checking that the travel of the CD carriers into and out of the magazine was not obstructed, and that the CDs were sitting centrally within the carriers, then returned the magazine to the drive. This seemed to resolve the problem for a while.
However, after a short time it happened again. This time the only way of removing the magazine was by wiggling it around in the CD drive whilst repeatedly pressing the eject button. If you look carefully along the right side of the magazine into the CD drive, likely you will see that one of the CD carriers has failed to retract back into the magazine. Seemingly wiggling the whole magazine freed up the jammed carrier, releasing the magazine.
I removed each of the carriers from the magazine assembly and sprayed everything with Mr Sheen. This seemed to solve the problem.
Also, I don't think that an electrical problem led to you loosing your sat nav, simply that pressing the CD selection button (or the CD check error message) switched the display to that device. Going through the menu in the usual way would probably have taken you back to the sat nav screen.
Good luck,
Richard

I will go and do a bit of wiggling when its not raining and see if i can release it.

Thanks for the advice.

I get the same problem. I have done a bit of research and posted the problem here. Sometimes it starts working normally but then the problem comes back. Solution is a new CD Changer!

Try using a disused credit card under the magazine with a levering motion. This is supposed to activate the emergency eject - worked for me.
