CD player noise

My CD player (factory) is making these weird clicking noises that go away after a about 30 seconds. I had a CD in there that played fine, but when I put a different one in it just makes a clicking noise and wont play anything. The screen doesnt say error or anything of that nature. Is the player dead? FM/AM, AUX, Nav work just fine. Is there a way to reset the unit to see if that fixes it, or should I unplug the radio and plug it back in?

Thanks for the help!

have you tried a non-copied CD ? a CD laser is more likely to play an original if it's dirty / faulty.

if it works, try a cleaning CD, otherwise new laser / head unit.

It was a non-copied CD that I tried.
"a CD laser is more likely to play an original if it's dirty / faulty." I dont get what you mean :idunno:
You mean its more likely to play an original even if it's dirty?

I have a vid of what happens. I'll upload it to my photobucket and link it.

yes that's what i mean.. if the laser is on it's way out, it needs less tolerance to read an original, so it should still play them.

if it's *just* started playing up and won't play either, it could still the be the laser but could be deeper.

either way, if you're convinced it's not going to sort itself, you might wanna start scouring ebay.

top tip - if you get a black one you'll be able to play MP3 CDs.. but you'll probably want black vents too ! :)

The cheapest one I found on eBay was $625.... :(

BUT!!!!!.....it worked fine with a different CD while I was running around today!

I'll try the CD in question with a different player.

Thanks for the help though
