CD Changer Reconnection

My Z4 has a 6 disc CD changer which has been disconnected so an aftermarket iPod connector could be added. As I don’t own an iPod/iPad/iPhone I would like to reconnect the CD changer is this possible as a DIY project or should I book the car in with an Autoelectrician?

It's two cables

Pull back the carpet at the rear of the boot in the middle and you will see the changer

From memory there is two cables with a white plug with two wires and a multi plug

You may have to remove the head unit to reconnect the White muti plug and remove the ipod plug

What brand is the ipod connector?

Have just reconnected the cables in the boot. The CD changer now loads the CDs and the "headunit" recognises a CD changer. The issue now is no sound from the playing CDs. I imagine this is due to the audio lead from the CD changer has been disconnected to allow for the Denion brand iPod connector. Would the next step be to remove the "headunit" and reconnect the audio cable?

Yes remove the dash air vents to access the two screws to release the head unit

On the right hand side if the radio you will see one black and one white 8 pin sockets

One should be connected tot the Denison

Remove that cable and the factory cd changer should be in the wiring loom loose

You will have to remove the factory multi connector by lifting the bar at the bottom towards you

Then you can access the two identical plugs at the bottom like this
