CD Changer 'No Discs'

Hi all, I have the OEM CD changer in the cubby hole of my Z4 and when I bought the car all was working well. Unfortunately a few days ago while it was changing disc it suddenly reported No Discs and switched to the radio. I ejected the cartridge and reinserted it and it seemed to sort itself, however it's just happened again and this time reinserting the cartridge has not fixed the issue. Has anyone experienced this or know of any solutions?

These CD changers can get unreliable, best of getting some form of MP3 interface installed.

Definitely looking at getting a new head unit in the near future, however, I have the professional sound system - not the carver one, the one below that - will that cause any issues?

Why change the head unit, get an Intravee or Dension unit. Aftermarket head units in these cars look shite.

Apologies, I'm new to all this! Just reading the descriptions of the dension and intravee it sounds like they're ipod adapters and I don't own either an ipod or iPhone. Do they do other adapters? I guess one option is to just get an ipod nano or something and leave it in the car... Do either have benefits over the other? And do they allow the mfsw to control them?

disconnect the battery for 30 mins, this fixed my issue!

Did this cause any other issues? I've read a couple of threads which say disconnecting the battery stopped some things from working. If not it's definitely a quick fix.

the only thing this does is reset the clock and the windows, both take seconds to reset!

Most of the dension units allow USB, so all you would need is a cheap USB stick.
