CD changer for Business head unit

I'd like to add a factory CD changer.

After doing a VIN number check it shows the vehicle has CD Changer I-BUS preparation so I'm assuming the cabling is already there, it just requires a CD changer plugging in?

Anyone know the part number or model number so I can get myself one?
 
Yes wiring already there. eBay for a E39/46 changer.

What year is your car as they did change the connections around 2005.

Would it still be the changers that you mention above?
 
Mine will be coming out some time soon. As i have a ipod connected up to the wiring. Once its out you can have it. Just make a forum donation.
 
That's kind of you Machine Monkey.

I forgot about the ability to connect to an iPod etc via this wiring! In actual fact, that would probably be better for me. Any details on the best unit to buy to make this happen? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I don't think MM's will fit due to age and being the wrong type, although it might depend if you have DSP or not.

I have one under my desk, I will post up a picture of the connections later as this will tell you the type you need.
 
I am taking mine out soon, also a 57 plate car, if you want to help me take out from mine, i'll help you put in yours. I am in Hampshire too. There is a fair amount of plastic work that needs to be removed and re-fitted!
 
You want one with the connections like below without COAX

Any from a E85/6, E46, E39 with these connections will be fine as long as it doesnt have COAX.

Why not go for a MP3 interface though?

I can't believe you have to take out the centre console etc, is it the same amount of work for a MP3 interface or can you plug that straight into the head unit?

If it's not an ///M roadster then you don't need to rip the interior out. DSP also restricts options for fitting an Intavee.

Yup its in the centre console, the only way to remove that I have read is to take most of the internal plastics out. If you don't already have one in there, you should be able to locate the connectors without having to remove too much, maybe just look under rear boot carpet. I have a DICE media bridge that I have plugged in but its sat in the boot at the mo so can't really use the functionality, seems like a great unit though. My wife brought it me, and think its around £175? I want to remove my CD changer at some point though, so if we are both together doing a swap, it could be a fun weekend day of removing and swapping and playing with spanners. Let me know.
