nice one great pics doesnt look to complicated so all should go ok!

Nope, but it takes ages and you will ache at the end of it and will curse as to how that bit of white cord fits back. I changed my CD changer 6 months back.

(BTW I have spare brackets if you have not already ordered /paid for them :)

I have it down to 45 minutes now :P ... I fitted the Intravee in mine which involved the same work.

Ache? With all your fitness regimes? Again evidence that sitting behind a desk all day is much better for you then getting all that excercise

ive ordered the brackets from BMW only a few quid, another quick question will i have to remove the navigation unit to fit the changer as the instructions ive been sent reckon i do just wandered if you could get away with not removing it?

All depends on the length of your cabling that is in the car. I did not need to remove it to get to them, but some cars have shorter cables and others have longer. They are taped to the floor underneath the oddment tray which you will need to remove.

For sure 45 mins second time. Just like any job the first time it can be a PITA until you know what clips, slides, unscrews, etc. and just how much force and where on the various plastic bits. Oh and last time I did it with thehardtop on - try that... :poke:

I'll see you. Well perhaps not in the dark...

BTW - not suprised you found the job easy with the passenger seat out...

That was on the first satnav fit. Never took it out afterwards as it was not really necessary.

So getting back on thread - hope it goes OK.

BTW did I miss a thread because last I saw you were trying to sell the Zed, then I read flooded the boot and now Sat Nav so I assume you're keeping it?

yes im keeping it zed is now my second car, job and travel situation changed so i dont need to get rid of it thank god it would of being like loosing a limb getting rid of it!

That's great to hear it all worked out well

all is well so far ive removed all the rear centre console had to remove sat nav unit aswell my stupid big hands couldnt get in the gap to plug the changer in, plugged in changer worked fine will bolt in to position tomorrow when i pick up the mounting brackets for the changer from BMW. Quite a straight forward job really typical car interior you think you are going to snap things when they come out with a crack hopefully the reverse will be easy enough ill update tomorrow.

tedster - puting it asll back together is much easier. As it happens I've just done mune this afternoon followitn a bluetooth retrofit. Only tricky bit is remembering to connect all the different sockets in order and rethreading the emergency pull cord

BTW if you've not looked at it already just check that the cd changer is set to 'horizontal'. You'll see the sliders on each side that rotate through 90 degrees.

much thanks must go to Breaker he sent me a BMW PDF with full instructions i printed it out and folllowed it which mentioned setting the changer to horizontal otherwise i wouldnt of known about that. I must admit i hate doing anything with any car interior they are so fiddly and you always think your about to break something!!

finished the changer instal this afternoon putting it back together went really easy, i brought the brackets and fitting kit from BMW only to find out because i have sat nav i dont need most of the brackets as they use the existing brackets all you need is a small square bracket which screws to the changer and to small round black bushes that mount left hand side. All works fine total cost has been a little over £80 pounds for the changer off ebay and the brackets from the stealers well worth doing imho.
