CD changer fault

I've just tried using the CD changer for the first time and it's not registering any of my CDs. The magazine ejects fine and can be placed back once the CDs have been inserted however "No Disc" reads on the dash. Is this a common problem or does it require a visit to a BMW specialist?

Sounds like either the CD Changer is broken and although it's injesting and ejecting the changer it may not be loading the CD out of the changer.

You can usually hear it trying to load the discs and if it can't load it moving on to the next section.

If it sounds like it's loading then it needs to be re-coded back into the car.

Either way forget the cd changer. If you do get it working it will probably 'jam' shortly after. They are not great bits of kit tbh
Try fitting an aux socket.

Try the following ;

Load it with 6 CDs
Then as you Insert the cartridge constantly tap it with the back of a screwdriver as it try's to load the discs

Thanks for the link. I already have an AUX port, although having Bluetooth would be a massive bonus. I'll look into it. Cheers

Some other good tips in this thread. (including the screwdriver tapping one) good luck

Loaded the magazine with 6 CDs, put it in, no sound of anything loading, tried tapping with handle of screwdriver but nothing happened. I have the AUX which is good but I'd love the CD changer to work! Where's the best place to go to get this looked at?
