CD / Aux volume dipping randomly

Posted this in 'Problems' but got no response! Figured I'd try here ...

I noticed this ever since I got the car, and it's getting annoying (especially as my girlfriend noticed it and I couldn't offer an explanation!).

When playing a CD or the AUX is connected (doesn't seem to do it when the radio is on, but I'll have to check) the sound occasionally dips. It's exactly the same as when it dips for a spoken nav instruction, but of course this is when there is no nav on. It seems to be sporadic.
I wondered at first if it was my phone - which is bluetoothed to the system - receiving a text / email. The Alpine unit in my E46 used to dip the sound when I received a notification but didn't actually play the sound from the phone through the speakers, but I disproved that theory.

Any ideas what it could be?

Might be worth checking all connections, if they are loose an the car is vibrating a lot when moving it might cause that

Do you have the speed cameras installed on your satnav? If so even with the alert "disabled" it makes the nav quieter sometimes but just doesn't say "attention".

I've just been driving round and I heard the same thing in my car, volume does increase and decrease sometimes noticably. I suspect it's something to do with bumps in the road seem to trigger it.

That could be it!! Although it does it when I'm not actively navigating ... but I always have the split-screen GPS co-ordinates view.
Is there a way to turn it completely off? (Other than running without the nav DVD in for a while)

My car has the speed-sensitive volume control, which isn't what this is.

It's the speed camera alert. regardless of them being off the volume dips.

I did a test run and it only happened when getting near speed cameras.. annoying

X2
Same happens with mine. I don't mind it, gives you a warning without any annoying beeping :)

I'll put GPS full on when driving to work and see what happens. It happens when nowhere near cameras... But they may have been there in a past life!
