Ccv replacement

Dear forum
Any thoughts on my issue would be much appreciated. Im getting blue smoke when I rev engine and at start up. Its not massive amounts and its not constant but my regular indy says its the piston rings and will need an engine rebuild. @£2000. Wondering if it may be ccv valve/tubes that need changing instead. Anybody ever had to change ccv/ pcv on a 2.0L e85? And any idea where in engine bay it is? Massive ask, greatly appreciated.

I’m in the exact same position and just waiting for a quote from the garage!

Even after changing the CCV and breather pipe. All fingers point to valve stem oils seals which is common on the 2.0L. Keep checking in and I’ll keep you updated! 👍

Hi jock. Thank u for this reply. Sorry u are in the same boat. If its the valve stem seals is that likely to be more or less expensive than changing the piston rings? Both sound expensive propositions.
Was it expensive to change the ccv and breather pipes? And got any idea where they are in the engine? Cant find an image on google.

Good luck in the meantime, jock. I think I will have to fix mine over the winter months when its in dry dock.
Many thanks

Hi Mate

Received an email from the garage last night £1265 all in. Taking it in tomorrow and will all be done by Monday evening/ Tuesday!

It should be very easy for a garage to diagnose the difference between worn valve stem oil seals and piston rings. The latter will show up on a compression and leak down test. Alas both require removal of the cylinder head so probably similar labour cost.

Jock. U deserve a knighthood. So £1200 is better than £2grand. Now I know what to ask them to check at the local stealership. Good news possibly/hopefully. If I hadnt got a montego blue /5 spoke split rim id probably sell it but its hard to find them in that combo. Nuts there goes the weekend in amsterdam

Thank u for taking time to reply. Have a great weekend.
