So there's a school of thought which believes that getting rid of the ccv system in it's entirety has some credibility.
It's fairly well-documented with regards to how to actually bypass it- downtube from cam cover to a catch can etc, but has anyone here actually done it and reapd the benefits?
I run an E46 325ti (M54B25) as my daily driver and swapped my CCV for a catch can at the end of last year. If you're not having problems with excessive oil consumption then I would stick with the stock/winter CCV. I was getting through almost a litre of oil a week, with blue smoke on full throttle and when first starting the car from cold. I fitted a brand new CCv with new pipework which made no difference, but the instant I changed to a catch can containing media (metal pot scourers!) with PCV valve to regulate pressure the oil consumption went away (1/2 a litre in 6 months).
Emissions were excellent at the last MOT.
