Hi I have spent all day speaking to people who are very knowledgable in repect of z4 e89 2010 audio upgrades and have seen more initials than anything else, I am now in a state confusion . I have fitted the original idrive system which has a controller , it answers my phone and has a usb and aux in the centre consul . It also has a CD which does not appear to work no Dab , no streaming and a very dated Sat Nav, I have the following questions . Would this be classed as a CCCC or CIC as it appears the upgrades are different for each type . I am adviced that I can fit a Mr12volt system MMI which fix all of this , what is an MMI . I am near to 80 than 70 with little audio BMW knowledge . IS the MMI better tban the Ugode system which it appears is well thought of . Please feel free to treat me as an audio idiot.

As stated on NE FB..E89s only ever had CIC never CCC

MMI is a box that sits between the CIC 'computer' and the CIC 'screen' and gives Apple Car Play / Android Car capablity.

By using your smart phone you can use MOST phone functions using the idrive controller know and the idrive screen

Very very simple and very powerful and ergonomically much better than a touch screen in an E89

At 80 you shouldn't be using streaming..

thank you now I understand , I will only listen with one ear. cheers Keith

Keith,

I've made videos on fitting these mmi boxes and the Android Touchscreens on my YouTube channel. But for those that don't fancy that then I also offer a fitting service, I've fitted quite a few of each now to members on here and through Facebook.
If you feel you'd like one fitted then send me a PM and we can chat
