Cayman Courtesy Car

Hi folks, rather excited as I've just been told I'm being sent a Cayman whilst mine has a scratch repaired after some dickhead reversed into it.

An 08 Cayman (non-S) for 3 days.. I shall post pics and some thoughts after I've used the tyres and got some Youtube donuts ! :driving:

accident management company appointed by my insurer as i was completely blameless. like for like replacement based on engine size 8)

wont post more details until ive got the keys

Has nothing to do with the insurance company. It is the accident management company that does that and charges the guilty party's insurance for the pleasure.

That is how a £100 scratch can turn into a £3000 claim as the cost for the replacement car for a few days can be astranomical.

If its anything like the 3.4 boxster S i drove then you should find it fun and go round corners like its on rails.

That said i've only ever been a passenger in a Z4M - would like to drive one to compare

Well, got the keys yet?

You'll love it for a couple of hours. Then you'll miss the raw driver input and feeling that you have to try to make an M go quickly. Trust me, i've had more Porsches than most people (12!). I had a Cayman S for the weekend when they first came out and was numb within an hour. Way too good a chassis to really exploit on UK roads therefore boring and unchallenging to drive. 993s however are altogether different....... :driving:

Also you may notice is how much harder you need to shove the brake pedal, quite unnerving at first if you used to a highly servo'ed setup.

I agree with the above, the boxster S was very flattering of an average driver and could take country lanes at silly cornering speeds - lots of grip to be had and very good feedback from the steering compared to my z4 with electric steering.
