The wet look  i like it..
Should have gota coupe!

I was wondering how long before one of you poor coupe owners (that do not get the joy of top down driving) would chime in. :poke:

It's okay mate, I'll take 100 soaks to get that wonderful time in the sun. :D :D :D

Cheers!
move to the UK and you would get a 100 soaks.

No doubt, but the time in the sun isn't there so no thanks. Nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

I got drenched on the way to work a while back (posted it here). It was bight and sunny when I left. As I got closer to the office, the skies started to turn a bit dark, but I figure I will make it in OK. When I was about a mile away, the skies opened up and poured all over me.

As long as I keep moving, the rain just flows over the car, no problem. Well, it is coming down so heavy that traffic starts to slow way down and now I am getting soaked. I get off the highway and get the top up within maybe 2-3 minutes of the first drop hitting, but I'm, soaked to the skin, the seats are soaked, the dash is soaked, and there is nice puddle of water in the center console and around the shift boot .

Twenty minutes later, I'm sitting in my office (still soaking wet), and the sun comes back out.

Haven't been soaked (yet) but on several occasions gotten a bit wet. The rain usually quits 30 seconds after I get pulled over and get the top up too. :headbang: Go figure!

Got caught in the M1 the other week in a proper downpour. My wife Chrissie looked over to me and said "Are we going to pull over then...", sure didn't. I put my foot down and soon worked out that as long as I stayed over 90 mph, wipers on full, we stayed dry apart from the water that came over the drivers window. We were getting wierd looks from the other cars, and I'm sure they were wondering why I was laughing. I thought it was great fun and a challenge to stay dry without having to put up the roof. Chrissie thinks I should grow up.

I got caught once on the highway about 2 weeks after i got the car... It wasn't a down pour, but it was a decent amount of rain, I sped up and it kept the rain out... but once my exit came up, i had to slow down... Just as i came to the light, the rain stopped so that was good... I raise the top just in case it came down again

I did the same in France i started to panic when it started raining but my mate who has driven roadsters for years just laughed and told me not to worry and keep my foot in.

Well I wasn't caught, but I did have to drive in this. Torrential downpour, roads were flooded to the point that I was worried about flooding the car. High winds....saw a walmart buggy corral (where you put the buggies) in the middle of the road.

Aebous, I thought you lived in the desert, that looks seriously heavy?

I do. And yes that is extremely rare here. I actually have never seen it that bad in my 2 years here. I've seen rainstorms here an there where it rains heavy for all of 5-10 minutes but nothing like this. I literally thought I was back home in God's country (Louisiana) in the middle of a major thunderstorm/hurricane. The drains couldn't keep up roads were majorly flooded, I actually turned around on one road because I saw an SUV turn into a parking lot and water was up to the bottom of his truck. So I said yeah...not flooding out my car and went the other way, but was still going slow through deep water. Kept the RPMs at about 2 1/2 to 3 grand just in case the water was high enough to get into the tailpipe. I so should of went to a casino that night....rain like that is super rare.
One neat fact, it only went through a very tiny section of North Las Vegas. 99% of Vegas didn't even see one drop of rain.

Wow, hope the Z is OK then after all that. Same thing happens here, too much rain and the drains can't cope :(

Seems ok, is there anything underneath the car I should worry about? Grease joints that sort of stuff? Me and my girl friend drove around most the day yesterday (not to mention the days after work I drove) and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with handling or sounds. I gave the car alot of TLC Friday-Saturday, but wouldn't you know it, the girlfriend wanted to take MY car, so I forced to drive my newly clean/waxed/detailed love in life on a cloudy day and it did get rained on a little....I think the hood looks dirty again, may have to go touch it up. She wouldn't even let me go topless once the sun did come out. The nerve I swear.

*edit*
I would like to add all that was almost a moot point. We were on I-15 in a construction zone with me in the far left lane a SUV in the middle lane, and a U-Haul in the right lane. I was behind the SUV but gradually gaining on him doing maybe 3-5mph faster. Well apparently Mr U-Haul didn't know the lane he was in ended (I didn't realize that was where we were at or I would been paying more attention) anyways about that time he decides to move over pretty quick. As the SUV moved over I really don't think the guy knew I was there, so I had to slam the brakes pretty hard and attempt to move left so I don't get smashed between a SUV and those huge concrete barriers that are almost higher than the Z4....thank god for good brakes, my girl says we were missed by inches, my mirror was inches from the wall. At least the car behind me saw what was happening and slowed down so he wouldn't almost hit me. I tell ya, driving in Vegas is a gamble where you play for keeps.

Lucky you were paying attention otherwise it could've been nasty  Not sure about any water damage underneath TBH, better off asking cj10jeeper or Shipkiller.

Are your folks OK back home, are they far enough out of the way of the hurricane?

That is mad, first day I had the zed I was driving up the M2, freaked me out a little, was sitting at 85mph, sky was black as coal, raining so heavy that I had the wipers on full tilt, yet didnt get a drop on me................strange, but cool!! :driving:

Most of my family went out of town. My friends stayed in the general area but it wasn't that bad for em.

 luckily wasn't as bad as people first thought it might have been.

Got caught out by a thunderstorm in my S1 Elise once - you haven't lived until you've had to put together an Elise roof in the pissing rain!! Some bloody Z4 pulled over in the same layby and put his roof up in 10 seconds of course at the flick of a switch and drove off laughing. Guess I decided if you can't beat 'em then join 'em!! :P

Almost got caught out on Sunday - feeling a bit brave thinking it was brightening up even though thunderstorms were forecast. Pulled over just seconds before I hit heavy rain. Was possibly the worst weather I've ever driven through on the M4/M25 though - trying to keep the car in front in sight without getting too close, trying not to aquaplane, and trying not to get pulled out on or rear ended by idiots behind who didn't seem to feel the need to adapt their driving one bit. There are a couple of places where rivers form across the M4 - seen a 911 get caught out by flash flooding there before. :o
