Caught speeding - 102mph in a 70

Agree with that comment. (Re the speed limit)
The 30mph speed limit was introduced when cars had rod operated brakes on the rear wheels only!

And from April Edinburgh becomes a 20mph limit through most of the city at all times of the day..........that's progress for you right there!

Agreed regarding speed limit, though i've no problem with 20/30 in the right place.. residential areas, near schools etc.

Primarily my problem is with Motorway limits though. I think we've all on this forum done over 70 before and can appreciate how much it would suck to be 'caught' by intermittent and inconsistent policing of speed limits. Clearly 70mph is too low as the police are perfectly happy if you're doing 80 and most people do.. it's commonplace, but the ACTUAL speed limit is now set at 100mph because policing policy enforces 100mph+ with a ban/court etc.

The lesson to be learned is that 100mph+ is now NOT ok, and there are consequences, whether it's safe to be doing that speed or not (I guess you could be thankful there's actually now some consistency in the policing of this particular limit, whether it be right or wrong - and not so nice for OP).

I think you'll find he turned up to court and he will have been made fully aware of the situation.

I just think it's a cop out saying your waiting on something official when you are fully aware of the outcome handed out to you by the court in your presence.

Correct - "I think you'll find he turned up to court"
Incorrect - "he will have been made fully aware of the situation. "

They actually said in court "you'll receive confirmation of the points in the post as well as instructions to pay the fine and how you should go about altering your insurance."

But yeah, I'm with Admiral, so no need to mention until renewal. Love a good cop-out...
