Cats?

My E89 is parked in a car port under the house, so it's dry, warm and in winter ... paradise for cats, who sleep on the bonnet, having first walked all over the car, leaving their dusty footprints and, no doubt, scratches.

How can I keep them off it?

Car cover?

Business partners son ran over his cat half mile from home.
The moggy had got under car, he drove off, first set of lights, stopped.
Cat got off just as he moved forward. Ran off to die.

I regularly a see a black one curled up on top of a local BMW's soft top.

My cat Ollie at work was run over and killed when he waited outside for me at what is public loo on site.
He offered some advice on a part some time ago i posted on forum.

I love cats……just not on my car.
I’ve invested in sonic cat repellent which seems to work. I also sprayed around my car some repellent. Not sure how effective this will all be. Time will tell.

I’m sure there’s a joke about pussy and your patter being enough of a repellent in there somewhere :poke:

No problem for me, left my old Z3 at a friends place after a few drinks, found this in the morning :D

I have experienced this on occasions too even but it's a catch 22 ya, having cats around helps keep the mouse away as they might end up chewing the electric wires in the engine bay. Lol

Don't know if will help but cats hate the smell of Orange.

My neighbor tried orange peel in her garden to stop cats. Ours went to sleep in the middle of it all
My wife read that coffee would keep cats away from her flower beds. For weeks, until she forgot about the idea, I had to empty the cafetiere in the garden.

Then, one day when the cats-on-the-car became really bad, I emptied a whole bag of fresh coffee in a circle around it. Next morning, there were fresh footprints all over the car and it smelled of coffee.

Our cat Ziggy loves to sit on the roof of my G29 Z4 while it's parked up in the garage.

She doesn't do any harm apart from leaving ginger hairs all over the soft top, so I'm in the habit of throwing a cover over the roof everytime I park up. Ziggy doesn't seem to mind :)

We had problems with cats crapping in the garden when we moved in - Moth Balls sees to deter them. Im not sure if they are still on the market these days?

I did buy a couple of Ultra Sonic, solar powered units for the garden and although cats still transit my garden and walk close to the ultra sonic screechers, they don't hang about!

You can still buy then cheaply at B&Q. Had to buy some to shove down what looked like a rat hole in the garden and they certainly work for rats.

Cats, never-ending story :) Well, I have a storm cover with 10mm foam on top of it to protect from ice, and they scratch it and made holes on it, so imagine how would our soft top do.

So, what I do is very simple, in front of the car (as that is their point of entrance - according to the paw steps) I put this clever device:

And every night (as they like to sleep overnight) I spray the convertible top with this:

It doesn't leave residue and it is for outdoor.

Simple solution, soak the top overnight with water, and during these winter days, they will not sleep on it as it will be wet. :)
