Just seen this on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190756991612?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Worth going for or stay clear? What do people think?

Depends what the damage was and how well documented. If it just a case of taking their wrd or it I would walk away. However if they have pics of the damage and receipts or work or documented rebuild then I would consider or the right price.

Just remember people will be asking the same questions when you sell it on.

Yeah i know, contacted the seller, doesn't have pictures but i think he has documents in regards to repairs made.
Is there any other way of finding out if the car is sound or not.

Has full bmw service history apparently.

For the right price i might be tempted, as long as it won't cause me any problems i'm more than happy to keep if for as long as i can. We until i get an itch for a bigger engine. :D

Haven't asked him that. But i did ask if he was accepting offers or letting it run till the end of the auction. He said insurance paid out £12500 and he has a reserve of £8000 which i think is wayyyy overpriced for a Cat D but i may be wrong, i'm no expert.

If they paid out £12.5k then the repairs were probably assessed to be in excess of £8k, so 'light panel damage' isn't the whole story.

You could get a straight one or probably a Cat D M for that price, so why bother.

Plus you may have fewer options/higher premiums to choose from when you come to insure it.

Call him again and ask him if he was the owner at the time of the accident.

When was the accident?

The time frame gives you an indication of the length for the repairs.

well overpriced for a cat D 2.5si.

heck the way prices are going now you could probably get a straight 2.5si for very little more.

lol, i bid close to that...... not sure why.... i was just a bit bored

but yeah i dont think its worth more than 6k...... but you never know, someone might think so

Yeah that's what i thought, hew won't get anywhere near that amount. I'd pay £4.5 - £5k max

For a Cat D I wouldn't pay more than 4k. For 5k I'd rather get a 3.0 (non Cat D), even if slightly older.
