Cat C/D repairables.....

I've been happy to own cat c/d cars in the past. I've repaired a few and bought a few. I've walked away from a lot more. This one is not worth the hassle. I don't believe you are going to get a perfect car for £15K so it is not worth it. £7-8K is the ball park for this but someone will probably go up to £10K. Not worth the hassle as I say.

also, the headlight internals are black.

That reinforces the comment above about a frontal impact. Put the bonnet nose and lights off another onto it and selling the slightly damaged silver inner light on Ebay. This guy is not even subtle about conning people

i reported him to ebay... let's see what happens.

Funny enough I was thinking of doing that too. It's one thing for someone to buy a Cat D and repair it, or someone to repair one and sell it on as such, but if what appears to be happening here is correct then this seller is just plain dishonest and someone will get conned by it.

I would say do it... the more people that do the better chance of ebay actually doing something about it.

Just think of the poor chap all excited about getting his "new" Z4MC and then ending up with something like that!

Feck me have you seen the "slightly damaged" SL55 AMG he's punting tae FFS

LOL £15k....the car is only worth £20k - £25k if it were straight!

The phrase I have always loved with salvage auctions is when it's had a 'light roll'. WTF is a 'light roll'? Thats like a 'light explosion' or a 'light stabbing'.

Wow, what a can of worms i opened with this thread! Needless to say, i will not be making any offers on the vehicle!!

It just goes to show what a huge wealth of experience there is on this website, which is why i always enjoyed coming on here when i had my Zed.

I miss my Coupe, and worse still, i regularly see it in Chester......... : (

shouldve kept a key and taken it for the odd spin...

...and in a new twist....while Googling I found this. It's a link to the auction BEFORE he 'repaired' it with the wrong parts....

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-Z4-M-COUPE-08-08-REG-LIGHT-DAMAGED-SALVAGE-DRIVES-/180470609788

You can't see it as it quickly snaps to 'listing ended'....so I grabbed some screenshots :)

Excellent find. Explains the wrong repairs anyway, what a plonker.

Good find. Fits perectly with the theory proposed based around airbag deployed wrong parts fitted and of course the single headlight also for sale.
He really has papered over the cracks and hidden a lot of damage. I wonder if because he's selling salvage then it escapes any regulation??

Shows 2 things - Ebay is a dangerous place with f*ckers like this on it and it pays to be a part of a group when buying such a car as it's easy to be stung and groups know a 'wrong un'

Totally agree with what 'cj' said. When i spoke to this bloke not once did he mention the front end damage, the low life piece of scum. Its webgroups like this that make life much easier for true petrolheads, in avoiding this kind of rubbish. He has reduced the price now, but there is still no mention at all of the front end damage that the car clearly sustained. Scum, scum scum.

Well done 'Z4-forum', top bit of detective work there.

Astonishing thread, just proves how careful you have to be. even dealers aren't exempt from a bit of skullduggary, my mate bought a Mini cooper from a dealer and eventually found out it was fire damaged. He did get a complete refund I hasten to add from the dealer once it was revealed. :fuelfire:

omg - feel sorry for the poor sucker which will inevitably buy this :(

Hope this car is now broken for parts.. who knows what damage this seller has papered over to make it more look roadworthy

It would be nice to email him some pictures and ask which stage of the 'easy bolt up', the pictures were taken at, and why there is no mention of them what-so-ever on the advert........?
