Would you use "regular" 87 octane vs "premium" 93 that BMW recommends ?

I think the only folks who will truly be paying for their mistakes with regard to oil changes are those who follow BMW's ridiculous recommended oil change interval. Now that really does make me question BMW's wisdom...

Excellent point! Their recommended oil change intervals are absurd. Like their “lifetime” manual transmission lube (my 98 Z3 had that recommendation, don’t know if they still hold to that). I read a post on that once where the poster said that the manufacturer warranty was 50K miles...thus the “lifetime” gear lube should be changed at 50K...Made sense to me.

I have found that there are always conflicts between Engineering and Marketing Departments. Sometimes it’s easy to figure out when Marketing has won.

I thought stop start on the bottle means cars that are driven in town traffic, that do a lot of stopping and starting

No, it's for cars fitted with a Stop/Start system by the manufacturer to get lower emissions!

BMW started fitting it to E89 Z4s later in their production run and various other models. Basically if you are stationary with the car in neutral like at traffic lights the engine turns off, then when you press the clutch to put it in gear the engine starts.

Just done a lot of researching and if you read up about the oil on castrol website it states its for all cars, even cars with stop start technology....so im ok though will be going back to edge in the future. I only bought it as it was cheap from lidl. anyway, I need more than oil at the moment, car is in garage and I think its a starter motor problem
