Just an FYI that Homebase are selling the correct spec Castrol Edge for £7.98 a litre. Certainly beats Halfwits at $15 or so.
 
When you look at the spec of an oil, what do the numbers refer too??? i.e. if its 0/40 what does that actuall mean?

Only do 1L ones for the one we need though by the look of things.

Might go buy 8x for the next oil change and top-ups :D

They only had 1L bottles of our oil. The had 0W30 and 5W30 LL01 and LL04. Didn't appear to be a special offer. I'll be getting another litre later today while I can :-)

We own a house in Muscat, Oman and will be out there in a month or so - I have never checked the price of oil out there as we always use rental cars. Of course as you will proably guess petrol is dirt cheap there (like 17p a litre), but it will be interesting to see what this Castrol Edge or equivalent stuff sells for out there (they have BMWs and VWs so will have the right oil).
 
What's the correct spec for us then, and does anyone know how much of it you'd need to provide a garage when doing the oil service?

Swami - one of the specs above will do - LL01, LL04.

Update: I just bought another 1 litre bottle as I was in Homebase buying Strawberry plants. The £7.98 price is indeed a special offer, down from £15.00 - not sure if this means Homebase are discontinuing the oil and selling at cost or what. (It does make you wonder how much markup there is on this stuff though...)
 
Picked one up yesturday, indeed, 7.98, at that price its cheaper than buying it in 5l form!

Anyone know roughly how many litres a 3.0l needs for an oil change inc. filter?
 
Thanks Tref! I bought what they had on the shelf - 5 litres for £40.

How much oil do I need for an oil service? Mine is coming up in less than 2 months' time. Dick Lovett do fixed price servicing, so I wonder if they'll still discount it if I provide my own oil?
