2 weeks ago i put a £250 deposit down on a Kia Sorento KX3 auto, have a 4 week wait so happy days, i then found out about carwow, so i put the car i ordered details in and within 12 hours i had 5 offers from kia dealers , the best saving me £2300 on the price for the exact same car so phoned the dealers and left it in his lap, i am prepared to walk away from the deal losing my deposit if i have to.
deffo worth a look if you're buying a new motor.

That looks like a really neat concept and service. Would certainly consider it if I was in the market for a brand new car.

Taz - £250 - it's on line 1 :)

These type of sites are levelling the field , I got a few internet prices for my wife's new car , 340 touring m sport plus with a couple of extras , the m sport plus option will only show real benefits in the traffic jam in the Mersey tunnels
I went to the 2 nearest dealers , one was over 2k more , the other matched the internet price with a little huffing and puffing , it's worth going to your near dealer to give them the chance of price matching .
It's ready on Thursday but I can't pick it up until Sunday :headbang:

I used carwow to get a price on a new polo GTI and could save £1800 of list price.
But I ended up getting a 7 months old one and saved £3000 on price of a new one, fetched it last weekend :)

just got a call back from OMC kia, the salesman tried his best to talk his way round me but money talks, he told me to leave it with him until tomorrow, don't think he will be able to touch it but not bothered as its win win or me. :D

I think it's a great idea. I've used it a few times to get prices on a replacement for my Tiguan.

Play the dealers off against each other without the need to traipse round all the dealerships.

I tried carwow on about 15 different cars and got some interesting results. Its simple and quick to use. As per the op I recommend it but do also hasten to mention it does not beat a face to face. Get a quote then use that to beat up your local dealer!

PS unfortunately it looks like BMW have pulled out of carwow now...

BMW pulling out. Very clever.
Victim of its own success.

I feel and hope all the sites will implode soon!

If your buying on finance they have to give you your deposit back, if its cash its down to the order form you signed. Personally I think its wrong, as a car sales man I can spend hours (4 or more) selling a car. Only for a customer to call up the next day, change his mind and get his deposit back. This even happens when we factory order a car to spec, ultimately leaving the dealership out of pocket.

I always see on here, price, price, price, most recently on my thread about the M3. However its rare people talk about the buying experience or customer service, which to me are worth a monetary value (how much is down to the individual).

When I sell a car its about the best deal not the best price, the 2 should not be confused.

Agree, sites like CARWOW and Broadspeed are purely about getting the best price for the customer.

Probably doesn't give the dealership much profit though.

Still good to use as a negotiating tool. I'd have never known that they were offering £5k discount on a Tiguan R if I hadn't looked on those sites.

I don't disagree that there's more to a deal than the price, however the car sales industry is it's own worst enemy here. The only reason that sites like this have taken off is because of the arcane, smoke and mirrors sales practices the car industry employs. If the price on the windscreen was the price you actually paid, there would be no space for these sites to exist. Very few people feel comfortable bartering on such a significant purchase, so it's not surprising they use these sites to level the playing field.

I hate having to deal with salesmen of any sort, they seem to make an easy purchase difficult no matter what you are buying.
For me it almost always comes down to price no matter what I am buying.
Most of the time I couldnt care less about how good the salesman is because you are probably never going to see them again even if you need to see them.
Or you buy something, have a problem with it and when confronting the salesman about it they refer you to the manufacturer rather than deal with it themselves.
Bought a car years ago, 3 months later the radiator started leaking. Went in to see the salesman who sold the car, no longer worked there.

Thanks Popey for the advice re my deposit, I take you point about the service I receive, but 2.3K is a lot of service.

A retired salesman will tell you that back in the seventies the customer had ten mins at the table, if they hadn't signed anything in that time they were told to eff off for time wasting.
