Does anyone know of a person or business that could diagnose or repair a carver amp headache?
Equally any similar experiences?

The car I have has the Carver amp 65126936952 as part of the 10 speaker system HIFI High with DSP.

It works on cold start and seems to stay on fine (i havent run it long enough to know if it eventually cuts out).
If i turn the radio off and then back on the amp fails and I get a horrible digital noise.

I found one post on the forum where someone referenced an overheating component but unhelpfully didnt say which!
Anyone have any advice or common experience?

You probably want an electrics engineer rather than any car folk.
Some near you. Assuming you can remove from the car I expect, but worth a try…

normally its the capacitors that overheat. they do fail due to age and overheating is one symptom time to time it will leak and can cause shortage to other components.

Well the two I was watching on eBay suddenly dissapeared so that’s a lesson learnt :D

I had the radio on last night for an hour without issue. The trick it seems it don’t turn it off! I’m guessing that won’t last forever though.

I’ll try a few of those electronic companies. Working on it out of the car I suspect would be a challenge though. If I find a miracle cure I’ll come back and share.

I had amp issues every time I plugged mine in fuse popped an electrical engineer wanted £90 an hour he opened it up looked at the board and was scratching his head these things are very complex is my understanding.. I managed to get a working one from a breaker for £200 seems to be best solution imo given the potential cost to repair, with no guarantee.. might be different if you find a BMW specialist repairer but still thinking it would be pricey.. Guy on marketplace had one for £180 I was watching before I got mine here is link

Have you tried playing with your window switches to see if the audio cuts?

I've had this issue since got the Z4 around 4 years ago. In the summer it works great, in the winter i get audio with ignition, then when the engine starts, the audio plays for 5 second and then cuts. ISTA D says "no communication to DSP". Pulling on the window switches momentarily bring back audio. In the summer it works flawlessly unless I put my windows down, then the audio cuts. I need to fiddle with window switches, turn on rear heating and it comes back on.

I suspect my GM5 module has something to do with this rather than the DSP Amp itself as i always have GM5 relay faults on ISTA every other month, but i've been procrastinating the GM5 fix every year because the engine sounds very nice

Do play with your window switches and let me know ;)
