Cars you passed your test in.

1992 Renault Clio back in 93. Like most I suspect it was my drIving instructors car. At least it was the 1.4 model!😃

1963 Mini and taken in '73
Fullrace 1150cc motor, competition clutch, '59 cone suspension, straight cut gears, LCB exhaust, carbs through the dash, etc.

Built as a project cars with dad in the year leading up to birthday and test.

Passed and was advised 'well driven, don't forget if changing gear and giving hand signals someone still needs to steer....' parting comments - 'take care son - you're mum needs to be proud and not collecting you from a hospital' Bugger told my mother the same...

In one of these 1975; 1983; 1985 - not the exact ones I expect they all rusted away long ago!Vauxhall%20Viva%20HC[1].jpg1235349-blackpool-leyland-pd3-double-decker-bus[1].jpg16116724557_b4a276b1ee_b[1].jpg

It was gutless and miserable to drive even for a 17 year old.
It belonged to my driving instructor who was also miserable. Judging from the way he reigned in my more ambitious driving moments, I suspect he was pretty gutless too :D

Blue 1.0 Metro, drove the thing to Cornwall a few times....the things you do when you’re young...

Mine was a Metro GTA.

Would have been a Nissan Micra, but I failed the first one.

Apart from the 35is the GTA was the only new car I’ve ever had. Loved the looks, turbo body kit and it had AP 4 pot calipers as standard, 1.3, evrything the turbo had bar the actual turbo! The A series responded well to tuning, you could get it to fly....relatively....

Austin Allegro with square steering wheel in 1978

I remember the "quartic" wheel well... Indeed, had a long argument with someone on another forum a few years ago, who reckoned I was talking bollocks about them..

Personally, I passed my test in an, at the time - Brand new Nissan Micra :D

My instructor had recently left a bog driving school that I was originally with, so I went with him - Rescued me from the Austin Metro..

Mind you, he spent most of my lessons listening to my Pioneer cassette Walkman, only commenting when he heard wheelspin as I was taking off from junctions

Same instructor had me service that car for the following 3 years, as I worked at the Nissan dealership.

Damask red 1.8 Austin Maxi
Passed first time but getting it in first gear was a nightmare!

vauxhall_cavalier_saloon_4.jpg

Mark 1 Cavalier, my Dad's car, he taught me to drive. Then he sold it to me as an early 21st birthday present I had it another few years till I got married then traded it for a Mk 1 Fiesta.
I remember it fondly, it had fantastic brakes for the time and the ride/handling was pretty good, but my wife hated the long bonnet so it had to go.

2.0D Nissan Sunny, should have called it the grey and mizzly
