Cars That We Have Loved & Lost (crashed or sold)

I know who owns both of my previous Ibizas now and am considering asking to buy one back!
The Cupra I wonder? Great cars but wasn't as economical as I hoped when I ran mine. Prefer the performance/economy mix of my wife Fabia vRS: 130bhp/55mpg vs 158bhp/45mpg. Or perhaps my Cupra TDI was broken, or more likely my right foot was heavier back then

Crikey not sure I can remember them all but here goes

205 1.0xe (first car and brand new)
Vauxhall Nova 1.3SR (brand new and my first mildly warm hatch)
Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9 (loved it)
Ford Fiesta RS Turbo (went like stink but caught people trying to steal it so often I sold it (for a profit))
Peugeot 309 1.3 Style (sensible car because I'd just bought my 1st house)
Rover 620 (1st company car - temporary)
Rover 220 Coupe (1st proper company car)
Ford Mondeo ST200 (brilliant car and mile-muncher)
Mercedes C-Class Coupe C220 CDi (my one and only diseasal and I'll never own another - had this because I was on 9 points and it had cruise control)
BMW Z4 3.0i Roadster (opted out car scheme and owned for 5 years and 90k miles)
BMW Z4MC (wanted one from the moment they came out)
Honda Civic 1.6se (2001) - My daily shed bought off my Mum with only 29k miles at the time.

EDIT: I don't actually regret selling any of my old cars (or handing back company cars). I get bored of them eventually

My history is much shorter than many on here, though I have only been driving for ~7.5 years.

1997 (R) Ford Fiesta Ghia mk4 (So chuckable and really comfortable seats - didn't really cost me anything in the 3 years or so I owned it) - Sold it to a friend of the family.
2001 (51) BMW 325Ci Sport (E46) - My perfect colour combo Champagne and Topaz - felt so quick and big compared to the Fiesta - Wrapped it round a tree, write off.
2006 (06) BMW Z4MR (E85) - Got the Interlagos outside, working on the Champagne interior. Thank God for Protected No Claims - this feels like a rocket ship compared to the E46.

Im keeping my eyes peeled Z4M - 2006 ;)

Been driving 8 years so not a huge history

Clio 1.2 16V 2002 - 52 First car, sold it. The first time the girl took it out wrapped it round a lamp post.. RIP thankfully she was fine.

Mini Cooper 2007 - 57 Sold for Cooper S

BMW 320SI WTCC 2006 - 06 Rare, lots of carbon under the bonnet, mini M3, not many made, expensive to run and slow revved out like a mad man tho loved it. Sold for Z4M

After 34 years of motoring I've quite a list of motors. The one I really regret selling, however, was a mint Yamaha RD400 that I sold at the end of the 70's for £300. TBH 810R still has a place in my heart and I can still hear that two stroke twin burble on tick-over!

Not listing all my previous but my biggest mistake was a Rover 820i Fastback

My all time favourite to drive was my 645Ci

645Ci017_zpscbfc4de8.jpg

& the one i wish i,d never sold was my 1993 aircooled 911 . I enjoyed every minute of this car & it pain,s me now to think i could still have it in the garage .
What a dick i was to think a 996 was a move up the Porsche ladder

The great thing about a thread revival is that you can see who used to post back a while ago, I certainly miss the contribution of a few of them

First car was an E36 Compact,

Then followed a Celica 190 T Sport (my first modified car, still miss it)

then I fancied something faster,

which brings me up to my Zed:

Also had a couple of weekend toys along the way, still got the black one

OK here are the ones that ring memories:

Pug Mi16
Alfa 156 2.0TS
MR2 Mk2 Rev 2
MR2 Mk2 10th Anni
530D SE with extra everything!
320 Sport Conv
530D Sport
Z4 2.0 SE Conv
Z3 2.0 Sport
Z4 3.0is Coupe

I must say a "dogs and heaps" threat would be interesting too

Top of mine would be the Audi A4 multitronic that ripped me £3700 for a new box, DMF etc. three months after I bought it - then was about to ask for another one 42000 miles later :headbang:

Agreed.

I was about to post my list then I realised I already did four years ago!

Great thread :D

Daily drivers:

1981 Ford Fiesta - first car and complete shed; came to a sticky end on its roof in a country lane after four months of enthusiastic driving.
1986 Fiat Uno - complete shed; eventually crumbled into a pile of rusty bodywork and bits of gearbox.
1988 Ford Orion 1.6i Ghia - complete shed, with utterly awful brakes. Died from gearbox failure.
1994 Ford Escort 1.8 Turbo Diesel - bled to death on the M4.
1999 Peugeot 306 XSi - absolutely fantastic car, with predictable lift-off oversteer and power-on understeer... Very pleased to see the that I'm not the only one to love this car. First car I've sold.
2000 Audi TT 225 coupe - great fun in a straight line, miserable around the bends. Not to mention the irritating DSC that would forever attempt to drive the damned car whenever I frightened it!! (Made me appreciate all the more the Peugeot's handling) Traded for:
2006 BMW Z4MC - phenomenal. Rivals my Westfield for sheer presence, noise, acceleration, and pit of the stomach thrills. Can't wait to get it on the track.

Weekend toys:

Westfield SEiW- 150bhp, 500kg. Lost an arguement with a roundabout, a crash barrier, a lamp post, then the crash barrier again. Learned a great deal about RWD cars and the energy absorbing potential of 5mm of fibreglass that day.
Westfield SEiW - 150bhp, 500kg - still going strong after seven years of track and summer lane fun

I still have the ///M and still haven't killed the replacement Westy yet, but I have added an E46 320d as a daily driver. It's torquey enough to be fun when I want it to be and makes for a very relaxed motorway cruiser the rest of the time.

I've averaged roughly 2.5 cars a year for the last 20 years. Only 3 cars make my list and 2 are the same car.

1991 Peugeot 205 1.6GTi (deserves it's reputation for being such a great drivers car)
2003 Honda Civic Type R (like the 205 only reliable and built better. I wouldn't be surprised if these things become very sought after in a few years time, they are just so much fun and represent the death of the NA hot hatch)
1991 Peugeot 205 1.6GTi (sadly not the same one but as close as I could get)

hmm... not exactly an exotic collection but here goes.

1) Dark blue Volkswagen Golf (MKII) 1991. 1.3 Ryder (4 speed). Quad headlights. Mint condition, loved this car to pieces. One Tuesday a woman drove into me on the wrong side of the road in a very tired, beaten up Honda Accord. RIP Golf.

2) Silver Peugeot 306 (1999) 1.4 Meridian. Nightmare from start to finish. Lots of electrical issues. Local mechanic took it off my hands - hopefully to strip for parts.

3) Schwartz Black BMW 318is E30 (1990) with MTech 2 kit. Beautiful car and I am so pleased that I got to own one. My Dad always had 325i Sports and this looked exactly the same. Sold on the E30 forum to a guy who came down from Scotland to collect it. Still miss it to this day.

4) China Blue Peugeot 306 (2000) 1.8XS phase 3. Loved this car. Never ever had any issues at all. Sounded nice, very comfortable and went to visit lots of friends at their respective universities in it. Currently still going (belongs to my brother).

5) "Silver" (dulled champagne) Volvo S40 (2003) Sport Lux 2.0 petrol. I got a lot of stick for choosing this car but it was an absolutely steal and had lots of equipment on it. Did lots of long haul trips in this one and it was a very comfy place to be indeed. Sold to someone who works along my route home. I even made £250 on it from when I bought it 2 years earlier.

6) Chemical Grey Fiat Grande Punto Sporting Multijet (2006). Excellent, fast, economical and had voice control, USB etc etc. Never saw many of these where I lived and everyone always commented on what a nice looking car it was. There was nothing wrong with this car and no real reason for me to get rid of it only that I'd always wanted a convertible and after lots of looking online I found a Z4 that was too good to miss. Sold toa guy in Kent who took it away the same afternoon he came to look at it.

7) Silver Grey BMW Z4 2.5Si (2006) Never liked the Z4 previously and didn't include this in my search in terms of suitable convertibles. However, kept coming back to them and after driving one, I was hooked.

So there we are. Varied and not the most exciting bunch ever but loved each one in its own way.

The only cars i have had that i miss are
1 205 xs first car would love to have one again.
And believe it or not a fiat tipo turbo diesel. It cost £500 had it for 2 years it never skipped a beat until the front sub frame rotted through and my front wheels kind of worked independently!!

I am sure i would miss the zed but i think it will be with me a long long time.
