Car's not well.

Ah, that was my primary driver to move to the Porker. Low road tax and excellent MPG values

Hey, I am saving money all over the place. In 200 years, the car has paid for itself with the savings in road tax alone

I went to Worcester and back in mine, M67, M60, M56, M6 and M5... Lovely run there and back..

40.3 mpg ....( Obd figures)

Bonus ..

One of the reason the Americans get more recalls is because they will put up a fight. They launch class action lawsuits and get things done.

They have recalls on the HPFP, injectors and an extended warranty of the turbos for the wastegate rattle issue.

I don't think our cars are any less failure prone than US cars. We just have a lot less N54s on the road so you don't hear about them so often.

Just been to pick car up and all is well again. :driving: :roundel:

For anyone contemplating Warranties this would of been a £2800 job. Just the £250 excess for me to pay. Even if I keep the car and warranty another 4 years I would be quids in. :D

Does the warranty level / own contributions remain the same? I know that with Warranty Direct type companies, your own contribution increases when the mileage and age goes up.

Good result though

Would be interesting to know what a BMW specialist would have charged for the job.

You always see these very high costed jobs quoted when its a warranty claim through BMW.

Good result for you though

I made a £3000 claim in my first year of E85 ownership with similar mileage. The monthly payment and excess for the subsequent 3 years that I owned it never increased so hoping for the same on this. :)

Very happy with the result and my previous E85 claim. BMW didn't try to wangle out of the claim either time that you hear so often with other 3rd Party warranties. Just asked the question both times if it was going to be covered by my warranty and a "Yes" both times.

Much better than my experience with the old X5 with WD who denied the (required) diagnostics fee and the charge for removing the manifold to get to the glow plug control box which needed replacing.

So they deducted £50 excess, then 40% mileage reduction (was on 60k), then the non cover of the manifold removal so ended up for an approx £600 bill I still paid £450 or so.

Good result Jimbo, glad you're sorted with no headaches, does it run noticebly better?

Gives me food for thought as I've never bothered with warranties before as always done my own repairs but once this has run out I will have to re-think as it's hardly an old non complicated MR2. Assuming I keep it that is.

great result there! THose N54 engines have some shocking reliablity reports though, theres a guy on Detailing world whos had 4 HPFP's on his 335i - one every year for the past 4 years :O

Those auto boxes are mighty complex to fix John

Thought you were going to look at that shiny red M? :poke:
