Car's back at the garage

Isn't this normal with hydraulic power steering? ALthought not a whistle as such, but it depends on how one describes it, every car with hydraulic power steering that I have ever owned has always been a noise at full lock
Yea a lot of people are saying they have noises at full lock, I'll see if I can catch it on mic and maybe start a new thread about it.

All hydraulic power steering that I have ever experienced (and I have owned over 100 cars! in my time) is under extra strain when on full lock and can sound different. I remember being told years ago by a mechanic to avoid sitting too long with the engine running and the steering on full lock as it can literally blow a hydraulic connection hose or damage the pump.

just been out in mine and checked, and it doesn't really make any squeal as such, i can just hear the engine rpm drop slightly as the engine labours, and i think possibly a very faint noise as the steering labours, but no noticeable squeal etc.

Maybe the slight noise is just the steering releasing some pressure or something.

I think were missing the point here. A squeal and a whistle are 2 very different noises. A squeal would just be a worn belt slipping or a saggy tensioner. A whistle is usually something intake related.
