i can see the benefits of the android screen, bigger, clearer, touch screen etc but for me i wanted to keep it as original as i could. Not had any issues with brightness and i don think i have changed from default but i guess it could be an issue on a sunny day with the roof down (not had that problem personally though).
I dont have any issues with using the iDrive, yes it can be fiddly sometimes when trying to get onto a certain option but that is only really in the satnav as there are a lot of options to scroll through. All the other apps i use are fine and only have 4 or 5 options to scroll through on each page. Also the ergonomics of the seating position etc make it very easy.
If you live close to anyone who has either installed in an e89 then maybe you can take a look at it first hand before making your choice.
