Appreciate all the advice on this thread I hijacked, thank you! I went out this morning, pulled it all apart again, removed the filter just in case that was causing issues… then I found the problem. Another simple error, I’d been overzealous on the scotchlock into the reverse light power wire and basically sliced it in two. Power was flowing into the camera but not the light. The initial blown bulb was maybe bad luck or occurred due to the poor power connection somehow, the next bulb wasn’t blown, it just wasn’t powered. Soldering iron and some faff later there is now a proper connection and not a scotch lock. All is working. My son is out at the moment, we’ll see if his ears hear the high pitch noise he was complaining of yesterday, if so then I’ll split out the earth in case I’ve got some interference…
