CarPlay Retrofit

I have recently bought a 2010 E89 and want to add CarPlay functionality. I already have a screen so just need the internal hardware. There seem to be a lot of options, I’m looking to see if someone would do the installation and supply for a fee. I live in the Bath/Bristol area

But he's in Lincolnshire
But certainly seems to have tried the options

Thanks Mark

Smallsy99, as mentioned I'm in Grantham Lincolnshire, I do offer a fitting service for these, but I also have videos on how to fit them and always plenty of free advice.
My personal recommendation is the Mr12volt mmi box, I think it's the best on the market. It has a better integration with the OE look and the sound output is a digital signal via the MOST fibre optic network as opposed to using the analogue AUX socket like all the others do.
Check out my video here...

There is a direct link in the video description.

Bath/Bristol isn't far if you fancy a drive :D I've had owners from as far as Scotland, France and Belgium in the past

I can second the above recommendation for Mr12volt. I’ve been using this for two months and it’s slick with superb sound quality. Best upgrade yet😎👍

One question I have about the Mr12Volt mmi - is there a recommended rear view camera to use with it ?

No specific one for the Mr12volt box, but I currently use this one...

AnubisZed did my Mr12Volt installation and I can't recommend him enough. Good quick installation.

As for the unit itself, it totally changes the entertainment experience.

I followed Dave’s video and fitted the mmi box (aux) before new most was available.

Video is really clear and helps you through all the steps

Also fitted rear camera in a number plate mount and front in grill ( front is not really that useful )

Fairly easy if you like to do it yourself and works really well

Which camera did you install in the rear? I have the most box fitted and want to put a rear camera in.

I’d love to put one of these cameras in but I have no idea what type/brand of MMI box I have. No idea how to deduce / which connective wires I need…!

This is the one I installed

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! £6.75 | SINOVCLE Car Rear View Camera EU European License Plate Frame Waterproof Night Vision Reverse Backup Camera 4 Or 8 LED light

It doesn't matter which mmi you have. They all have a yellow RCA plug for the camera feed and a red trigger, Firstly forget the trigger as we don't need it.
So install the camera and run the wires into the boot area. For the camera feed (yellow) run this to the front of the car and to the mmi. For the power, run the black and red wires to one of these

Then the black from this box to ground and the red to the reverse wire of the rear light cluster. This filter box cleans and smooths the reverse wire signal to give a steady, non flickering, video image.

How much would you charge to set this up and roughly how long would it take @anubiszed thanks

Unfortunately, for me to do it it's too time consuming and thus costly.
I did a video that shows the majority of this process, the difference is that in the video I used a relay instead of the filter box...

Hello Anubis, you have been recommended by another member to advise me.
I have a Z4 E89 2013 and wish to add a Satnav. Can you advise the best option and supplier of the kit.
I am in Scotland and have an auto electrician who will install for me.
Many thanks, James Whiteside
