This is carplay working in a none idrive car for less than £45.
Here's how I did it.
As a first time user of Aliexpress - I ordered a carplay sceen from there. It arrived quick.
Prior to this, I was using a Lisen Ring Magnet phone mounting inside the cubby. (It’s the best version for the e89 to mount a phone there)
Now, out of the box, the ali express car play screen does not have a magnetic connection. So you will need a small screwdriver to unmount the windscreen mount they provide. It has four screws so keep them. In the Lisen mount kit, it comes with a dashboard pad and a spare ring magnet. I drilled this dash pad to match the screw holes in the ali express screen, then attached it.
I then fixed the spare lisen ring magnet to the VHB pad on the dash mount had just attached, then scraped off the sticky parts I didnt need.

So, the lisen mount extends out, and the screen attaches on.

Optional, but you can power it with a power bank, or just run a usbc cable down to the centre console power point. (It comes with a power supply)
So there you go - touchscreen carplay for £45.
It’s the dream to retrofit full idrive, but I thought I would try this, given the cost.
