Carpet Moth Larvae

Anyone suffered from these in the house, bloody things, I've spent the past 3 days turning the whole house over, hoovering within an inch of my life and spraying the carpets with moth repellant. I had some larvae last year but only a few dotted around the house but seems worse this year over the past few weeks, problem is you can't leave anything in situ, furniture etc as they tend to hide away and merrilly eat your carpet hence why I've been thorough. Think I've got them all now and I've placed impregnated cards in all the hidden away places behind furniture etc to try and stop them coming back.



We did buy 5 large woollen rugs last year, 4 from John Lewis and one from World of Rugs and wonder if the moth larvae were on the rugs as never had these in the house before.

Whilst harmless its not a nice thought when tucked up in bed that they might be under it :o :x

Guess there's nothing else you can do but vacuuming once a day carpet & furnitures to eliminate the eggs and kill-on-sight all flying moths cause they're going to reproduce! Change your vacuum bags, don't leave the hoover in your bedroom as well...
We've also suffered from a moth invasion recently, but I suspect it came from our neighbour upstairs... :roll:

Thanks for that, killed 2 moths last night after doing the last room but haven't seen anymore. I've sprayed the carpets with a moth repellent so hopefully will deter the blighters, just hope they haven't got under the carpets which are tightly fitted around the skirting so fingers crossed. Was beginning to make our skin crawl :(

I sympathise. I've had them in both my homes and we have them now. They used to treat new carpet for them but gradually reduced the amount of chemical over time so they are coming back. We had to replace 2 carpets in our old house when pretty new. Now they just seem to like one old carpet in a large cupboard with was there when we moved in. We've tried sprays and moth catchers and they seemed to help the problem die down, but we are experiencing a new wave of moths. I know the best solution would be to rip out that carpet but it is huge job as the cupboard is full. Maybe on a cooler day!

Yes we have the same problem, we seem to get one a night, in fact when we go to bed I say lets look for the nightly Moth, which I quickly dispatch with some bog roll and a trip to the coast down the toilet, I suspect ours are in the loft as they only appear in our bedroom and the main bathroom both of which have downlighters that go into the loft so i suspect they are getting past the bulb attracted by the light
