If it is old, it will not require a subscription but is attached to one car type (like BMW). However, I don’t know how you get around that it is attached to a user account though unless the seller is providing that.

I have the older OBD dongle (and a lifetime subscription as I’ve been with them from years ago) and that’s not attached to my account?

My tablet just sees it as a Carly OBD reader and can be used by anyone with a subscription. Are these newer ones different?

The one I have is from 2017 and is attached to an account and when the app updated, it could not be used without subscription anymore. It only works with BMW now attached to a single account.

I don’t know how the latest versions work

Hi, sold now but just FYI I bought with a subscription last year for any car. I'm pretty sure sure for the big stuff like coding it's tied to a subscription, but I don't need to code anything now and have a separate code reader for identifying BMW bork reasons, hence selling
