Carly Pro App

Lewis, I am near Huntingdon - I have an active Carly subscription and adaptor if you fancy a drive. Takes 5 minutes to register a battery.

Hi Ian, that's very kind of you and I would like to take you up on your offer. I haven't got the battery yet as I've been concentrating on how to register it first. When I get the battery would it be safe to change the battery here and drive to you or would we have to do it all at the same time? I don't know how we can sort this, are we allowed to give out phone numbers on here?

PM Ian, but he may not be able to reply until he has three posts.
But you could simply PM him your contact details.

Is protool an app or a device??

https://www.bimmergeeks.net/protool

It's the closest you can get to the full official dealership software on your phone. Does everything from error code reading to live data monitoring and module reprogramming. It uses a standard K+DCAN cable that all other BMW applications use.
Interesting but its only android and I will never go there again. Sure they will release ios version if it passes all the tests required...
I will keep an eye on this.
Luckily I bought my full version of carly as a one off payment before they introduced annual fees

I doubt they'll bother with iOS. It's not about passing tests, iOS just isn't capable. Some companies like MHD have developed an application that works on iOS but it requires you to develop an external WiFi controlled device to carry out all the serial comms with the car since Apple don't let developers use Blutooth or USB for anything meaningful.

I have a 2009 Zed and I have just swapper the original battery for a new one.
The old one seemed fine and would start the car okay but roof would not go down
on the fob. Now it does though. I also heard of people having issues with the electic
parking brake when the battery gets old and that it costs more to sort that problem than
the price of a new battery. Got mine form Tayna. Very happy with it and speedy delivery too........

Hello chaps - first post on the forum!

The roof has stopped going down via the fob, and the car is still on the original battery, so I think it's time for a swap.
I've got ISTA-D ready for Battery Registration, but I wanted to know if it's required to have some kind of trickle charger attached while swapping the batteries over? Can i just swap them out, or will I be inviting all sorts of electrical gremlins?

Thanks,
RM

When I swapped my battery the only thing I had to reset were the windows.

This is how I did it.

1. turn the ignition on (without starting car)
2. put both windows to their fully down position (using both left and right window switches, obviously)
3. press both left and right switches down for 15 seconds
4. straight after the 15 seconds pull and hold both left and right window switches upwards to raise windows to fully closed
5. without releasing the switches, when windows are fully up count another 15 seconds
6. release switches, and reset should be complete.

The above should be carried out with both doors shut to teach the motors the resistance of meeting the window seals for the anti trap to be 100%

Pleased to say the battery replacement was a doddle. I didn't need the window calibration, just made sure the one touch worked both ways for both sides, which it did. The roof is now coming down via the Key fob again

The only thing I had to do was the time / date, but that's a given. If anyone dim like me needs a step-by-step guide including the battery registration, I'm happy to share the details.

Thanks for your help chaps
