Carly issues (and OBD2 reader/code clearer recommendations)

Hi folks, been a while since posting but still zedding :driving:

We've got a Carly 2nd gen wifi version. It'll get 90% through reading (or clearing) error codes then appear to freeze up (lights stop flashing on the dongle too). Leave it for 10-15 mins and it might sort itself out, or it might just stay frozen. It used to be brilliant and quick but having used it recently it's almost caused a marital!! :ROFLMAO:

Wondering:
1 - if anyone has had similar issues with Carly?
2 - what alternatives there are to Carly at the sub £100 mark. We need something that can read and clear error codes. Not too worried about coding things like auto locking doors etc.

Ta in advance!

Yep same issues

Gets to 90% then freezes

Only on z4s annoyingly works perfectly on all other bmw variants

I put in multiple support tickets to Carly and frankly they were s**t at doing anything about it

So I binned it

My creator 410 does all I need apart from the coding

@bigwinn - Funny how it's just Z4s!! Pleased it's not just us though...thought we were going mad.

@nikijack - typical right....not cool. Especially since it used to work so well!

Sounds like a Creator 410 is the way to go. I've read about Autophix too - are they any better/different? Or is it just a case of preference/what you've got and like?

I use Autophix. I believe the only real difference is that with Creator you have to select each module to scan individually. Autophix allows you to do this too, but also gives the option of doing a full system scan.

Interestingly the creator will full scan on other BMWs and on later z4s it also allows a full module scan

When I had Carly is was fine and worked on my Zed, my 5 Series and a friends Audi every time and even managed to code the roof, light and dash on all of them too.

Try using a the free app Car scanner with the Carly OBD Dongle as that works fine too and I keep that in the Zed.
