Carly engine fault code - Any ideas?

Hi,

Had the following fault come up when I ran Carly the other day, any ideas?

I do get the odd whiff of fuel, but very uncommon, and also the car stutters on the odd occasion likes it's running rich or over fuelling?

Apart from that she runs perfect with no noticeable drop in power.

Car is E85 2003 2.5i

Thanks,

Jim

Overfueling is usually down to a vaccum leak from holes or splits in the rubber intake bellows or associated vaccum pipes, high fuel trims are usually a clue to this. I would expect a code to be set for fuel trims exceeding their maximum if there are air leaks.
Also, maybe you have a leaky injector since the code you are getting is for one cylinder. You can rule out a bad coil by swapping the offending cylinders coil to another cylinder as suggested previously.

I'd take out the spark plugs and have a look. If the spark plug of cylinder 1 looks wet and different from others, that would suggest a leaky injector. If you have a boroscope you can look inside the cylinder, it may be more revealing than looking at the spark plug. If they look about the same and uniform, I'd look at other things like our friend colb suggested.

Won’t be a leaky injector on an M54. Coil pack / split concertina elbow on intake more likely.

Thanks guys  , excellent feedback. I'll start by swapping coil pack and checking for leaks over the weekend and let you know how I get on..

Update - have now replaced the coil pack on cylinder 1 with a new Bosch pack, and so far cured the issue with the miss fire, and engine seems to pull so much smoother. Result...
