Carly Connecting

Anyone on here use Carly? I got the latest version to use with the Z4 and 320 and I cannot for love nor money get any phone to find it on WiFi.

I've tried 3 different iPhones and it just never appears.

Carly sent me another scanner and the same thing has happened.

They are refusing to refund my subscription too, although I paid via PayPal and will soon raise a dispute.

I’ve found issues getting it to find WiFi on iPhone 15

I used older phones and it finds it ok

I won’t be renewing my subscription

Cheers

I'm on 14, 15 and 16 and none can find it.

Did you manage to get it to work at all?

The iPhone 15 did not work, the iPhone 12 did work with Carly. Fortunately, signing in on the iPhone 12 still allowed me to use it so the license is at least not fixed to a single device.

Looks like Carly doesn't work with later phones...

They've closed my case so I've had to go to PayPal disputes.

You need to put the phone in airplane mode, forget other WiFi networks so it only defaults to the Carly. That said, I find the app to be slow and annoying. I use a handheld scanner to pull codes and use NCS on my laptop for any coding.

And the engine needs to be running so it seems, however that does not explain why on older phones it works and on new ones it doesn’t.

Thanks, I'll try this with the work phone. I have too many networks on the personal one to be removing all my networks and BT devices every time I want to do something.

Out of interest, how easy is it to get NCS working and use? I'm fairly IT literate.

Maybe don’t forget but change settings so it doesn’t auto connect to the others at least.

Not as bad as the internet claims it to be. Just need to download, run the installer. Make sure you have the proper OBD usb cable driver. Change the com port # and then done.

Depending just how much you want to do, you may want to consider this instead:

Does that mean it is for a pre-facelift only as it does not mention the E86?

I've coded stuff on facelifts with it too.
In fact, only a few weeks back I coded out the rear sidelight checks on one for Jock156.

Cheers, I really just want to code out the light checks on my E86 so I can run LED's.
