Carly alternatives?

Morning all, is there an alternative to Carly that you can use for coding? I begrudge paying basically £100 for both the adapter and the app, just seems like a lot of money to me. Any help or advice would be appreciated, I've spoken to a few forum members in the 'who's got Carly' thread about coding but none of them have got back to me :| .

K+D Can Cable & INPA / NCS Expert

It's no where near as user friendly as Carly, however the cable is only about £15 - £20 and the software you just need some google-fu to find it :)

Where are you based?

(Edited because I forgot it was NCS Expert for the coding and not INPA)

I'm based in the humberside area, that's my biggest concern is bricking the damn thing, just want a couple of daft bits doing like doors locking after a certain speed, three flash indicators and roof up on key etc.

I'm with you regarding Carly and their pricing though - it's worse now they've changed to a subscription based pricing model. It's a joke if you ask me. I'm guessing there's no one near you with Carly either?

I'm based in Cambridge - which google tells me is some 2 and bit hours away :? but if you ever find yourself possibly heading this way let me know and you could use my Carly for 10mins, although I only have the Cable (I used it with an Android Tablet)

Regarding INPA - I doubt that you'd brick anything, but tbf the process isn't exactly for the not-so-computer-confident, it's not the easiest of tasks (I used INPA to code my facelift rear lights on my pre-facelift)

That would be ace if I do find myself down that way, it's 162 miles one way haha :driving:

I'm under the age of 30 which I imagine would make me naturally computer literate, or least thats the way work makes it out! I might give that a go tbh how hard can it be!

I've tried reaching out to other forum users within my area but none have replied unfortunately.

Ahh that's a shame no one is replying.

I just realised btw - I meant to say K+D Can Cable with NCS Expert for coding. Not INPA (Although NCS Expert and INPA tend to come in the same bundle)

This is worth a read: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1800496-Dummies-Guide-to-Basic-coding-with-NCS-Expert I used that as a reference when I first looked into it
