Carista vs Carly

I saw the recent thread about coding the wing mirrors with Carista.

I'd not heard of Carista before, only Carly. What are the differences and is one better than the other?

Also, can these things be used on more than one car, or are they somehow paired to one vehicle? (would like to do the wing mirror mod to wifey's 1'er for example.

Just Googled it and found some pages about this which I shall have to read, but does anyone have first hand experience of these?

Why does everyone get hung up about having remote folding mirrors? I’ve got that function on my F22 but on the E89 I have to press the button on the armrest when I’m in the car. Can’t say I find doing that much more of an effort tbh

I have Carista and it is not locked to one car, I have used it on my E89 and on my mates E93 without any problems.

Carly is not locked so if you have a Roller, Supra, Mini,G29,E89 and E85 then Carly works ok..

I’ve only verified that the E89/F56/E85 works

Pro Tool is the best of the apps if you want a proper diagnostic and coding tool. It's only working on the E89 platform at the moment but coming to F series cars soon and isn't subscription based.

Is it available on the Apple App Store? I just tried looking but couldn't find it.

It's for Android only.

Just to add a bit, there's also "bimmercode" but the "expert" mode is written in German - my limits are "achtung spitfire" and "schnell, schnell".

I've got the screenshot from crista and I'm trying to figure it out, bimmercode just said something along the lines of "if carly can do it so can bimmercode"

I have used BimmerCode on my F31, G31 and now the Z4, and must say it does everything I could ever want. Also use BimmerLink for error clearing, and diagnostics.

I’ve got Carly, if you make it to one of our meets in the summer I don’t mind doing some coding for you

Haha, my car hasn’t got folding mirrors, but Debs does and she uses them a lot so it would be a nice touch to enable it on her car. She always does it from outside the car.

I’m interested in other bits, one being unlocking the doors when stopping the engine, not when removing the key....the number of passengers that nearly rip the door handle off because they think the answer is just keep pulling, when if I’d removed the key a second earlier it wouldn’t be a problem.

Thanks, if I don’t get something I’ll take you up on that! Can’t wait for a bit of nice weather (dry and warm!) to get out and enjoy the car and actually making one of the meets would be good!

My car doesn't have electronically operated wing mirrors.... OMG..... but Ive goatta hammer and I can wackem in.... yay...win win.... is this really a biggy….. gawd….

I have Carista as it was only £15 on Amazon for the wireless OBD adapter and a two week trial. Connects straight to my iPhone without issue, can read some codes (not a full code reader) and will also allow you to tweak quite a few things like Carly (though I have not tried Carly). Carista also works as a basic code reader on my wife's 05 plate Honda Civic too, as well as a lot of other cars (website has a big list of functionality).

It was a while ago that I last used it, but I was able to modify the number of blips when short indicating, adding current velocity to display, coding mirrors on reverse, what each press of the key does and a few others that I can't remember. I do have a SmarTop roof module though for folding mirrors.

Once your two weeks runs out you can pay for a year's subscription. Or you can buy a weekly pass as and when you require it which is what I do. I'm quite happy with it for how cheap it is.

Struggling to see the humour in this?

Please make your point without the sarcasm?
