 i'm from the bay (california)
so.. i have an interview next week to be a financial advisor for ameriprise. i'm 23 years old.. i've been working for starbucks since i was 19. started off as a supervisor.. then quickly made it up to be an assistant manager. i've been there ever since. ameriprise is a good company.. and.. quite frankly.. i'm tired of starbucks. i'm in college too.. and i'm almost done.. so.. i want to further my "opportunities" with a better company besides starbucks.

my question to all you lovely folks on here...

what's it like being a financial advisor for a firm like ameriprise? i dont really need details.. but.. is it worth it? is a financial advisor a worthwhile job?

i'm enrolling in school in the fall after i'm fully settled here in florida.. so.. no more starbucks. i detest working for starbucks!

thanx

Just a word of advice from a former manager who hired hundreds of employees. Even if you hate working at Starbuck’s do not ever say anything negative about them or your past employment. Make it sound as though you loved the opportunity they gave you but you are looking for more of a challenge. There is really a lot of truth to the phrase Do not burn your bridges.

I have some funds in Ameriprise. I would ask my advisor but they keep quitting! I've had 3 in the past 4 years.

This is a TOUGH business, especially with the American economy the way it is. It's your job to convince people to let you handle their investments.
Do you have clients? Are they going to give you some? Guaranteed salary or commissions? You may need to stay with Starbucks until you get established. Good luck to you!
