Would like to do the same but im worried i'd do more damage than good when removing the panels, ending up with a scratched, rattly interior!
 
Respect! Very neat job. My first attempt with 3M original wrap ended in tears with a crease under the head unit cut out. This has given me the itch to try again.

Interesting. I didn't say I enjoyed doing it. :) I may have to do the console again as I don't think I've left enough overlap in on place and it may lift in the future but as a first attempt it's not bad. Basically it was an experiment after seeing others on the forum do it as it can be easily reversed if it looks crap in a few months. I did practice on my daughter's bike fairing infill panels first with me heating (and burning her fingers) and her folding and stretching. These parts were more complex than the zed parts and so the zed is relatively straightforward.
 
that looks great. do you have by any chance a link to a great and very detailed tutorial on how to take apart the interior? I heard it is crazy difficult.

Also, I have a pdf of BMWs CD changer installation instructions - I can email it if you want.

I had no trouble with the infamous clip and washer at all on the main dash panel but you must take the glovebox out as suggested which is just 6 screws. All the clips then become accessible to remove and then the dash panel is loose. The centre vents are a bit fiddly but I'd had these out before.

The main difficulty I had was rear centre door as the I found it difficult to get a screwdriver in to the torx screws as Shawna suggested but the pdf suggests the hinge will pull off. On mine there were 2 small screws in the hinge, undo these and then the door pulls off - quite clever really - then you can get easy access to the 2 torx screws.

Much better than the wood. I'm not usually a fan of the wood in the Zed, but I do have a soft spot for the maroon paint, cream leather and wood combo. Looks rather nice.

The previous owner of mine wrapped the aluminium trim in alcantara, and it looks awesome. I'll take a photo at some point.

Good to see a fellow SMG owner as well :driving:
