Carbon Wing Mirrors - updated with fitted pics

The carbon mirrors look brill :)

However I'm reserving judgement with Tekarbon, I recently ordered a pair of their carbon wing mirrors for the E89. Their standard mail delivery is 6 to 8 weeks :o so I paid extra for the priority mail service which takes 6 to 8 days for delivery. Received the mirrors but one was damaged, they stipulate that any damaged items has to be sent back to them within 7 days of receipt. I took a pic of the damaged mirror cap as soon as I unpacked it and e-mailed it to Tekarbon. They replied and said to send the damaged cap back to them at MY expense, they wouldn't pay the return postage. I sent the cap back using Royal Mail Airsure which wasn't cheap as I wanted proof they had received it. They received the cap but said it would be posted normal delivery which again can take 6 to 8 weeks, if I wanted it sooner I would have to pay up again for the diference between standard and priority mail which was another 20 quid. It cost me 18 quid to post the damaged mirror cap to them. So in all upto now its cost me £38 to hopefully receive an undamaged mirror cap  Not great customer service in my view, afterall it wasn't my fault it was damaged in transit and something the company should allow for. Still waiting for delivery. The only plus is they sent the item as a gift on the customs form which avoided import duty :?

I agree the website states $15 for post but is only for America!! I paid the extra which was £40 more. Wing mirrors were very well packaged so no damage.

Mine were well packaged so I was at a loss how the one cap look like it had damage, to me it looked like a flaw under the cleacoate rather than transit damage which if they had checked it would have cost me unecessary expense, I'm positive they knew the cap wasn't perfect but posted it anyways. The quality when perfect is spot on however I think its down to luck that you get them perfect.

im intending on making carbon parts in a few months time. most carbon parts on the zed are just laminated ontop of the original part which im not a fan of and will try and mould parts from scratch.

intending to do interior trim. mirrors, kick plates, and all the trim under the bonnet.
will let you guys know when i get started

Looking good pal, do you have the link to where you bought them from?

Are they easy to fit? Just slide on or what?

Actually not as bad as I thought they would be. The covers look great from the front, but would just really annoy me seeing the added 'skin' on top of the mirrors already. :|

The fitting is quite easy, just widen the cover and fit straight onto the wing mirror casing

On closer inspection the fit isnt that flush, so I will buy some more 3M tape and use the tape up to the edges on the cover, which will give a snugger fitting

I bought the covers from

About an hour.

1. First you have to remove mirror, tilt mirror down and move catch top centre behind mirror to the left. Unclimbed heater wires and cable.
2. Remove mirror motor (3 torx screws) and in clip cable, just pulls out.
3. Remove 5 torx screws which hold cover to main folding motor.
4. Remove torx screw from underside black plastic, best to have mirror in fold-in position and lower window for access.
5. Remove lower black plastic, just pushes out.
6. On cover there are 2 clips inside, one on top and one below. Use flat blade to release them.
7. Cover should come off.

Replace in reverse order.
