CARBON CENTRE CONSOLE QUESTION?

Hi all hope your having a nice xmas!

Im thinking of changing the carbon dash trims, im looking at buying a piano black set which im going to get colour coded to the car, the centre console in mine has the sport button and air bag light thing! but the one im looking to buy only has the sport button, is there any reason why i coudnt just drill another hole in it? or has anyone got a scratched set with 2 holes in they want to sell? thank you :D
 
As long as you are careful I don't think there's any reason why you couldn't drill a new hole, just use your old set as a template. Given how modded your car is, are you sure you have the airbag disable function, or could it just be there to fill a hole ? If it's 'fake' you may not need to drill at all.

BTW, is your current dash carbon leather ? If so... :whistle:
 
Hi Bing thanks for the reply! to be honest im not sure, i know thats its not the original trim, should my car have air bag disable on it? yes it is carbon leather and once ive sorted a nice bright orange set to replace it, i will be putting it up for sale :thumbsup:
 
Open the passenger door and look on the end of the dash that is normally hidden when the door is closed - if there is a key hole there then you have the air bag disable function IIRC.

Regarding the carbon trim... I'd really like first refusal if / when you get it done and come up with a price ?
 
great i will have a look! its probably going to be a while before i get it all sorted but i will let you know as soon as its out of the car :driving:

Hi,

I got the aluminium dash to replace my wood.

Mine is single button (sport) and thats how I got the new trim BUT on the other side on the underside the trim is already pre formed for easy cut out so it will not be a problem. Basically there is a hole with the aluminium cut on the underside with just the face in place.

If its genuine carbon leather then you would be much better off selling it and finding another to cover as you wish. I got an alu one covered and it worked out ok
 
How difficult to change?
Mine is cracked and want to do it but I'm a bit ham fisted. For me DIY starts with F!
Have piano black. Where do you get replacements?

It's a bit of a pain, especially in a coupe as there isn't much room for manoeuvre. There is a really good how to on here somewhere. For me it was relatively easy as my other half did 95% of it :) as for getting another EBay or on here are the best sources but you will be very lucky to get another piano black one, it's usually the Alu ones that people replace.
