Car wash scratched my windscreen

I went through a hand car wash the other day and when driving tonight noticed a fine circular scratch on my windscreen. I'm pretty sure it must have been done at the car wash as I know it wasn’t there before and it follows the line of how they cleaned the windscreen. I am a bit annoyed as I always use hand car washes as I view them as safer (apart from not being lazy and doing it myself). I don’t think it’s very deep but it is annoying when street lights catch it.

I have been reading up on polishing out scratches in some cases using a pad attached to a drill but wondered if anyone else had tried this? Also are E89 windscreens particularly soft and prone to scratching?
 
My windscreen seems to have collected tiny blemishes so I suspect BMW screens scratch quite easilly. Try a fine polishing compound first by hand to see if it will polish off.

Hand car washes use cloths and sponges that are constantly reused so you'll be damaging your paintwork as well as your screen. Don't be so lazy, :poke: get out there with two buckets, 2 grit guards, 3 lambswool mitts, pressure washer, wheel brush, shampoo, wheel cleaner, waxes, detailer and a mug of tea. Only takes a day :)

....... and a comfortable chair to sit in so you can watch and make sure your wife does it properly :oops:

And found this for windscreen scratch repairs - not tried either but the clear nail varnish one sounds worth a try.

2 grit guards, what on earth are grit guards? The rest of the equipment looks familiar, down here we just typically replace the mug of tea with a cold beer - it is 35*C after all :cheers:

I keep thinking mine is dirty and using the wipers but its actually lots and lots of tiny damage.
 
Lol. I will also have to supply a skimpy bikini for the wife. I wouldn’t want her to get her cooking apron dirty. She may not be too pleased though given the time of year. :lol:
