Car Value's?

I did think about selling the Zed back last November but then thought. Nah summers not far away!

Been thinking now though maybe I should have, I'm wondering now what our cars will be worth after this virus is behind us. With companies closing for good, unemployment rising and government in so much debt that I would think tax increases are going to be on the cards for the one's with jobs to claw back some of the losses. New car sales are on the floor so big discounts on them I presume, and that will have an effect on second hand car values too I suppose? Oh well.

Think my glass is half empty at the moment! :tumbleweed:

Everything will be taking a dive without doubt.

The people on the PCP's and PLP's will be hit worst...

Drop like a lead balloon...! I’d guess the ones that are going to suffer least on these schemes are the ones that hold onto their cars now for the next, what, 6+ years.

Its hard to see a way out of it really....

Unless a GFV was in the deal, then i guess that could save it..

My neighbours had a clubman on a 6 yr PCP,they must have paid for the thing twice...

Kind of depends why you have the PCP really.
I always leased from Nationwide, but when my Fiesta TDCI got to the end of it's 3 years I needed to look for something with 4 doors and a bit more space.
Cost of leasing a 1 series was ridiculous though.
Then I chanced upon Listers at Kings Lynn who were trying to shift a cancelled fleet order of 40 335d Shadow Edition Tourings.
Got a cracking deal, over £100 a month less than the 1 series and 16k pa instead of the 15k I was looking at.
I could have just handed it back after 26 months but decided to keep it for the 4 years.
I wouldn't buy it then as it would cost me much more on the balloon payment than it was worth, but as a lease car it has been ideal.
Bet I never find a deal like that again!!!

Will be buying my M140i in a few months when the PCP is up, doesn't bother me in the least, it only has 800 miles on the clock and still smells new :)

If you worry about it, sell it and take the bus.

Tim.

I wouldn’t bet on it enuff....I’ll wager the dealers will be throwing out some cracking deals when this lifts, as long as you don’t have a trade in of course....

The folk on big supercar lease purchase deals are the ones who will be sh*ttinh a brick right now. I almost jumped into a 570s back end of last year, £95k car, with £25k in and YOU take the gamble on the GFV...if it's in negative when you come to sell it you have to make up the difference. It keeps the monthly down, but it's a risky game.

Anyone who bought a 488 or Hurracan in the last 2 years and is now looking to trade out is feeling a world of pain.

I have no doubt there will be some good offers on new cars, the used car market will have some bargains from people who may need to sell, but others will hold onto it t rather than loosing money, so overall price may not drop that much, personally I’ll be hanging onto my daily as We’ve only done 20k in 4 years and I’ve no longer ever intention of selling the Zed, I think this one’s a keeper 😁

I struggled to sell my 3.0Si just after Christmas, and when it went in February I did wonder if I should have held out for a better price.

But in our current situation I'm relieved that I didn't!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if used prices take a fair hit once normality returns.

Probably right just to hang onto what you got and enjoy, no actual loss as they say until sold except normal running costs. Its going to be painful though for some, I feel for them!

Only if the electric car dream dies a horrible death :driving:

Currently in the UK there are approx 6.5million vehicles financed on leasing / pcp deals worth a collective £75billion :o scary numbers but i only need to glance across our cul de sac to count at least 7 of those with 5 virtually brand new cars ( Audi A1 , Fiesta , Toyota Aygo etc) belonging to neighbours children aged 19 - 23 & 2 of those are students with only part time jobs :? crazy days
