Car unlocked and windows down

Went out to the car yesterday morning to get something out of the boot. Locked the car as normal and then carried on with my day.

4 hours later my wife came home and told me that my windows were down and the car was unlocked. Oh, and it was raining and the drivers seat had a puddle on it :(

Windows closed quite happily, car locked as normal and a wipe of the seat and half an hour with the seat heaters on this morning seems to have dried the seat up.

Anyone got any ideas what might have happened? Have i got an electrical gremlin or could i inadvertently triggered this with the key remote? If so, what did i do?
 
Sat on the remote I suppose? When you press and keep pressing the windows open, so that sounds like that.
 
I was carrying quite a heavy item when i walked away from the car, so its possible i was also holding down a button.

I'll have to have an experiment...
 
As PVR said you must have pressed the unlock button for a period of time. I did the same on my 1er this week with keys in my pocket. Going to change the programming so if it happens again the windows don't go down.
 
Have you got ankle biters? Mine occasionally messes with keys or I might sit on it within range of car.

That's sit on the key not the ankle biter!!
 
We do have an ankle biter, but i can't blame him. He was out with his mother at the time.

The ankle biter (just coming up to 2) loves sitting on my lap on the drivers seat and playing with the steering wheel and all the controls. He's got the 3rd to 4th gear change just right :)

He's not interested in playing in his mothers 3 series. Must be a petrol head in the making :D
 
Checked to see what happens if i hold down the unlock button when i nipped out at lunch today. Sure enough, holding down the unlock button unlocks the doors and then the windows drop whilst the button is pressed.

Must have triggered the unlock button in my pocket whilst in range of the car. I'll have to watch that in the future.

I did that last week..

I was leaning over the wing of another car with the key in my pocket.....To everyones amusement the windows dropped and the roof shot back !

If I had a roadster I doubt if I would have had the strength in my limp wrists to hold down the button for more than 1second :D
