It's the first time, I heard that forum is social media. Forums, which existed long time before social media term came to life or someone thought about Facebook, Instagram and whatever else. So, I will keep to my opinion.

Well, it's a medium by which people can exhange opinions and information and it is open to all.
Difficult to differentiate that from social media I would have thought?

But then, who cares, it's a generic label that covers all of us who can't find a better way to waste our lives than staring at a laptop, mobile or similar mind-numbing device.

We should be careful on the forum, we don't know for certain but someone on hear maybe a spy and monitoring our posts to identify subversive types?

This forum is the most 'social' media I've ever encountered. Some of the content in this thread is absolutely nothing to most of the hate and nastiness I have seen on other car forums/ social media (or discussion boards as some like to say)!

I used to frequent one of the early big car forums twenty odd years ago. There were often threats to kill people. Seriously!
And NO, they were never aimed at me!

That is because everyone who signs up gets an explicit description of your sad circumstances and has to sign a waiver to say they'll be nice to you.
