Car ownership details

My friend is looking into getting a high mileage car but we don't know whether when we do a vehicle check it would tell us if it has been a fleet or rental car in the past. I know you cannot find out details like the previous owners name or address due to the data protection act. But is this the same when it has been owned by a company or used to be a rental/fleet car?
 
the previous owner's name and full address will be on the V5 log book.

Check the log book when you go to view the car.

Thanks, but what if it has 2 owners? Could I find out if the first owner was fleet?

Also what if a trader owns the car, will it show they they were the last owner or will it still state that the actual last owners details (as I know a trader is not classed as an owner)?

Hope that makes sense
 
The V5 will only show you who the current owner is, and who the owner before him is (this is on the front)

If the car has 2 owners, that would be the current owner and 1 owner before him so that should be all you need. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.

Not sure how you'd check further than that
 
oh and it also shows the dates of ownership, check this against the date the car was registered and that will answer the question
