Often particularly if I’ve not driven my 2011 2.31 for a few days when I put key in the yellow “ car on jack” symbol shows. I’ve run through the service menu and despite the fact I’ve Cleared it back it comes,
Anyone had this?

Annual inspection or mot due? :?

Some service item is due...MOT..Inspection..Brake Pads...Brake Fluid etc

It was battery for me. I got it a few times last year...each after car hadn’t been used for a while and hadnt been left on trickle charger. Hasn’t appeared at all since battery was replaced a few months ago. “Service due”indicator is completely different symbol.

Same experience here

The car on jack indicates a service requirement as per rmanual see page..it MAY be caused (as so many things by a low / ageing battery).

It is a general call to arms and can be called by over a dozen possible functions see https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e89-z4-sdrive20i-roa/repair-manuals/62-instruments/1vVCauT

It requires a service, nothing to do with the battery whatsoever.

E89’s are proving to be sensitive to ailing batteries, they have caused issues like this before - they can also knock the electronic handbrake sideways and needing a software update to function again.
The hardtop roof can also have issues with a below par battery.

May well be so, but the icon clearly advises 'Service Requirement'.

As previously mentioned, icons can be falsely triggered by an aging battery so you can’t always take the warnings at face value as many on the forum have found out

I had this too when I hadn't driven the car for a couple of months. I went into iDrive and Vehicle status it said "Excessive Drain on Battery" or words to that effect. I drove the car a few miles and then reconditioned the battery that weekend. Hasn't come back since. Three weeks ago.

Had something very similar on my BMW 535 as well during lockdown when car not used much. Same thing; reconditioned the battery and it went away.

These cars have so many electronic gizmos that consume battery power even when the car is switched off that they steadily run the battery down.

Forgot to come back to this post!
SORNd my 335d for a couple of months and had exactly the same thing. Gave it a long run to Cardiff and back and all was well.
