Car Moves in park

I have a 2011 Z435 is with a automatic 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Something weird happened today with the car idling in park while I was putting air in the tires. The car would rock back and forth ever so slightly whenever I got close to the valve stem with the pressure gauge or the air hose air chuck. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas? It happened at each tire I filled.

Others have reported this. I never leave the car running while I'm out of it so have never noticed.

I suspect fluid in the DCT is allowing some torque throughput from the wet clutch packs. You should always have the Ebrake on or engine off when outside the car imho. As the car is in park a mechanica DCT lock is engaged to prevent it moving far.

My 20i with auto tends to rock gently back and forth for a second or two after engaging park but it's nothing really disturbing.

I guess you had the engine running as you were using a portable air compressor powered from the cigar lighter? Certainly on my 20i the engine needs to be running to get power from this socket. It's weird that you get this rocking effect by close proximity of things to the valve stem though. Sounds like an episode from X Files! :D

Ignition is required, the engine doesn't need to be running.

The rocking back and forth is due to the unique nature of the DCT and isn't related to putting the vehicle in Park.

I'm talking about the non-DCT box and just relating what I have observed.

As for the cigar lighter, it's too friggin' cold to go outside and check it right now.

Agreed on the cold! I set my tyre pressures all the time with just ignition on. I'd never leave the car with the engine running but that's just me. The rocking is apparently normal if you've not applied the e-brake in addition to Park.
